Degree Project: Planning Layout

Since my proposal has been submitted, Now I can work on developing the final piece. Since I had collected many pictures for my mood boards, I had many references/sources of inspiration to draw from.

The first step would be to decide on the shape of my layout, as there are many types of kitchen layout I could choose from.

Out of all the layouts I had seen in my research, many of them were in an 'L' shaped with an island in the middle were stools could be placed. I also noticed that many of these kitchens were open plan and would often lead into the lounge and dining areas. This was something I was eager to implement into my design.

I then needed to decide how to implement the aesthetic of Greek architecture into the format of a traditional kitchen. Looking through my reference images, I found that a lot of the Greek buildings included elements such ceiling beams, stark white surfaces, wooden accents, and arches. Some of the rooms even mixed various ceiling/floor levels.

With all the previous elements in mind, this was the design I created:
