Wednesday 11th Discussion with Josh

I had a very valuable discussion with Josh about my ideas for the degree project and inquired about getting assistance in the Wednesday workshops. Thankfully I got a very positive response, and he has agreed that my interior design/architecture idea would be more than achievable to execute in the time we have been given.

He also let me know that he will be going through Unreal Engine in his sessions, so I could definitely get something out of attending them. However, since they are primarily for the Level 5 DMD students, not everything will be perfectly suited to me. However most of it will be relevant to me, so I will continue attending Wednesday sessions.

The most effective method of creating interactability in my project would be to enable cabinets, drawers and certain object such as kettles to be picked up and moved around. When I start developing my interactable elements, I was advised to start with simple shapes first and nail down the functionality before more complex designing takes place. Before I start making anything though, I'll need to research games that use the type of interactable features I'm aiming for.

I haven't quite decided if I'm focusing on architecture or interior design, but Josh recommended I prioritise the designing interiors/certain rooms before considering exteriors.

He said he could do a bit of VR, but how much I will do with him in session is to be determined.

Overall I got a lot of value out of this discussion and am very confident in my path going forward.
