Assignment 3: Essay/Report (50%)

- Combines areas of research to formulate topic.
In order to start thinking about our research question, we wrote about what ideas we had based on our interests and hobbies. This is what I wrote:
My general interests are Pop culture, film and technology.
Since I am interested in a wide variety of media franchises, there is a lot of potential to come from analysing their cultural background and influences. However I am not confident that this would make for an interesting essay. Plus this type of media analysis has already been done very thoroughly and I'm not sure if I could provide anything new.
In one of my previous essays for this course I based my topic around how robots were being used to assist in surgeries and other medical procedures. I could perhaps explore a different application for this kind of technology.
In my practical project for last year, I started to explore VR. Since I am going to be exploring VR again this year, I could maybe tie it into the subject of this essay. Could this be an opportunity to explore the subject of Simulacrum/simulation?
If I start from here, this may lead to me encountering more interesting topics in my research.
