Upon coming back from University after my morning theory lecture, my main task for the rest of the day was to create at least two personas.
I also decided to exchange the simple graphics I used to represent each persona into proper images.
Because I recently had to create personas during my App project last semester, I thought that it would be a good idea to use the layouts I made on the App Presentation. However, when I looked at the examples provided my Steven, they were quite different to what I had. Because of this, I had to make a lot of changes to my personas' layouts to be more appropriate for this project.
The main changes I made were:
- Remove the Must do's and Must don'ts.
- Change the behaviors section to habits.
- Add the personas' location.
In order to avoid using the likeness of existing people, and to make the pictures easier to reference, I decided to use a website I had seen a couple of years ago called 'This Person Does Not Exist', which automatically AI generates human faces. I also chose a random generator to make the names for my two personas.
With the change in document format, I decided that changing around the layout was the right thing to do.
I had a lot of difficult deciding what the new layout should look like. I started by making a table and adding the titles of the appropriate sections. Once I wrote out the information however, the layout ended up looking quite strange. This might have been because I had chosen to make the borders of my table invisible, but making them visible again didn't turn out much better.
After making many changes to the order of my information, I eventually settled on a layout that worked well enough:
Writing the actual content of my personas was also quite difficult outside of the basic information such as age, location, and relationship status. The main difficulty I had was that I was trying to make both of personas unique and well rounded without overtly ticking boxes.
These difficulties made my personas take longer to complete than I originally hoped, which now puts me slightly behind in terms of making my test environments. However, if I work hard on making them over the next few days, I should be safe.
My goal for the rest of tonight is to set up a very rough VR environment, which I can then use tomorrow when Steve comes around to do VR testing with us.
