Independent Project: Completing Logo Design

Last night I further developed the logo I had started working on earlier in the week. Here you can see I kept the lettering fairly thin to maintain a smart and sophisticated feel.

For the eyes scattered throughout the logo, I wanted to give them a simple design that would be understandable and aesthetically pleasing from a distance. I also wanted to strike a balance between cartoony and realistic, which I feel like I captured quite well.

I initially tried to make the design in Photoshop, but it was ultimately easier to make in Illustrator. This was the design I finished with:

After bringing my logo from Illustrator into Photoshop, the next step was to apply my iris design and add the colours. I chose to keep a black outline for the eyes in order to break up the colours and create the impression of them 'sitting' on the rest of the logo.

I thought the colours still looked slightly plain, so I decided to give it a light gradient from light to dark, which instantly made the logo a lot nicer in my eyes. At this point I was satisfied with my logo.
