Independent Project: Building the Mock-up [Part 2]

Now that the structure of the main building had been complete, it was now time to make the front foyer area of the building. The first major step to achieving this was to cut out a section from the front of the main building. In order to give myself the appropriate clearance , I lifted the whole assembly above the rest of the environment. Because I made the walls double-layered, this took quite a lot of consideration and problem-solving. Once I was satisfied, I moved the main block back to its previous position:

The next step was to cut out the door frames in the front section of the building that would become the main entrance to the foyer, and the two subsequent doors to the main hall. The process was practically the same as previously mentioned.

When connected back up to the rest of the structure, this was the view from the front door:

Now that the overall structure was finished, I began to populate the building with props and furniture, starting with the front desk. I created the desk by editing a basic cubes and extending each side until it wrapped around in a U-shape. I kept the desk slightly pulled away from the wall to make it look like a functional space where staff could move in and out. I then added an extended section of wall to serve as a sign:

To make the seats on each side, I copied the desk and flipped it so that the extended sections were pointed up. I then adjusted the dimensions to make the seat parts longer and the extended areas shorter. To give the impression backrest, I copied the sign above the reception several times and placed them against the wall in-line with the seats:

I rendered two images of the final result:
