Independent Project: Monday 30th

Today I discussed my project idea with Steven and he gave me some suggestions on how I could develop my idea further.

Overall he said that he really liked the direction I was going in, which I was quite happy about.

He asked how many rooms I was planning to do. At the moment I only intend to make a few rooms, as the pieces themselves are more of the focus point.

He also asked if I was going to make the entrance to my virtual gallery and other rooms such as a Café. I wasn't initially planning on adding any elements outside the gallery room, but I would be open to adding more. Right now the only thing I can see myself adding is the entrance and the hallways to connect each room, but if its possible I will flesh out the rest of the gallery further.

One suggestion Steve made that stood out to me was that I could give users the ability to construct their own artwork using pieces lying around the area. I really liked the sound of this idea and would love to implement it into my project. If I'm able to make this feature I would most likely dedicate a room of my Virtual Gallery to it.

He said that Unreal Engine would be the ideal program for me to use for VR. Though I'm more familiar with Unity, I am open to learning some Unreal, as I've seen how its been used in professional industries and would like to take this opportunity to learn more about it. Apparently Josh will be going through it on Wednesday, which I'm really looking forward to.

Steve told me that Unreal Engine has a plugin that allows direct transfer of assets to and from Blender, which would be useful to me considering that I'm planning to make my assets in Blender anyways.
