Rembrandt Exercise

In this session, we explored Rembrandt and his portraits, which were given to us in a folder.  Using the MORPH tool, to cycle between Rembrandt’s work, we were then instructed to create a short piece, similar to that of a slideshow.  The lecturer suggested that we should make the eyes of each figure in the portraits line up. We were told to continue adding footage until it reached around the minute mark

The second major stage of the process was to export the result into a new Premiere sequence, and speed up the footage by using ‘change speed/duration’.  Then colour mattes were added using ‘file/new/color matte’, one green and one black. In order to contain the paintings in one area, we cut out an oval shape in the center of the green color matte.

The third stage was to use the Ultra Key Tool to cut out the green element, this gave us space to put a video background behind.

The next major exercise was to implement moving shapes into the video we had just made. This was achieved by making new colour mattes of different colours and shrinking them down to the size/shape I wanted.  I tried to keep the colour scheme simple, mainly containing red, blue and green with a small amount of white and black. I also attempted to make the piece as interesting as possible by making the shapes move in different directions at different speeds. Overall i'm very happy with the final result.
