In this session, we focused on the layout we were going to use for our "Interactive Posters"
Due to the many interactive elements we included within this project, a lot more coding was required. This generally made the process more difficult.
The first major thing we did was create keyframe blocks in order to separate the document into different "pages", and create buttons to navigate between them. This was done in a similar fashion to the button we created last week.
We tested turning images into bitmaps. This was done with the Design Museum Logo to remove the white background. This took a while for me to get right, as I spent a lot of time manually removing the white pixels around the text, as the select tool was very particular in what it highlighted. After the logo was sufficiently cleaned up, we proceeded to animate a little sequence of the letters changing colour. The intention was to make the animation only play when the mouse was held over the logo, but I had some difficulty getting this to work. In this instance, I had to ask my tutor to help me fix it.
The last part of this session involved us adding abstract animated elements into the document. In this case, it was in the form of orbs which moved around in the background and changed colour when we put our mouse over them.
Making the orbs change colour was quite easy to do. The process of animating their movements across the screen took a little longer to do, though it wasn't particularly more complicated.
This was the result of what I had created:
If I had more time, I would added more coloured orbs floating around the screen. However this could always be done later.
