I think that the combination of shades of gray they have gone with look perfectly appropriate and are easy on the eyes without being too dark.
I like the subtle colour gradient that they’ve put at the top of the page, as it makes the site a little bit more interesting than it would’ve been if that gradient weren’t there. I also like the way that the gradient changes to different colours on different days.
There’s a clear sidebar with the ability to switch between key features such as the option to return to home, access a search bar, and bring up your liked songs.
It also does a good job of recommending new content based on your interests and preferred genres.
I like all the little animated elements that trigger when you hold your mouse over them, from the tracks lighting up, to a border appearing around playlists.
The daily mixes are personally a favourite feature of mine, as they’re always changing and do a good job of mixing tracks I’ve already liked along with new ones, and I have discovered a lot of new songs specifically through them. Aside from that though, spotify suggests a wide variety of playlist types.
There is a good balance of text and images. The images are large and easy to see, while not totally overpowering the text. The text is only used to communicate essential details, which prevents the pages from looking too jumbled.
The different elements on the pages are arranged up in an organised, clearly defined way. There is a good amount of space between the blocks of information. Headings are clearly visible, and do a good job of breaking up the site.
With the sheer amount of content you can look at, it does begin to get a little overwhelming to see just how much there is. This might just be me though, as I have used other sites with more information on their pages and have managed completely fine.
Also considering that the colour scheme of their logo is green, I wish there was a little bit more of it present. Maybe a bit of green text might be nice.
