After sending a draft of my Proposal to Steve yesterday, we went through it together in class, and we established some more areas I could improve upon. Overall, he spoke quite highly of all the extra research and writing I had done over the weekend. He did however, suggest some further material I could look at, and has agreed to send some books from his personal collection via email.
These were some of the other suggestions he had regarding other areas of the document:
- Add pictures to the history section. Steve said that some of his books on VR could have some potentially useful pictures in them.
- Think some more about how the 'build your own piece' area of my project will be formulated, and talk a bit more about how I want this feature to operate.
- Shift certain parts of my research around slightly. eg. some information I added to the project description would potentially be more suited for the cultural context.
- Create at least one or two scenarios/personas to go along with what I've written about my Target Audience so far.
- He also liked my storyboard, but said he would have ideally preferred to see 3D images. However I went on to explain that I intended to feature 3D renders and mock-ups in the Designing section of my Prospectus instead.
Work also began on getting the VR headsets properly set-up on the Uni computers, and a technician came in with some headsets and other VR equipment to start installing everything. There was not enough time at the end of the day to actually start using the headsets, but Steve is intending to come in on Wednesday so we can start using them then. If I can get a VR environment set up in Unreal before that day comes, then I could get some actual test footage and do some experiments, which would be perfect.
