The Sony Walkman was one of the first major innovations in handheld music players. At this point in time, music could only be listened to in private spaces or at home. However, with the release of the Walkman, it changed how we interacted with the world and how we enjoyed Music.

Sony focused on making it and easy to transport while still having high sound quality. Their laser focus on this idea was what ended up making it so successful.

It was so popular that despite initially only being available in Japan. Sales had surpassed 30,000 within the first two months.


Fiber Optics

Fiber Optics started being researched in the 1800s, but in the 1970s it was developed enough to be used for communication. These cables soon became the main method of transporting information over long distances at an incredibly fast speed.
